Therefore
if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are becoming new. |

All Men Have Sinned
Jesus said to
Nicodemus [John 3:3], "Except a man be born
again he cannot see the Kingdom of God." All men have
experienced physical birth and according to Jesus need a new birth. This would indicate
there is something spiritually wrong with men. Men are born with sinful
natures which need to be changed in order to be allowed to line in
relationship and in the presence of the Hold God.
Because of sin man
is separated from God. Without the new birth, God, who is perfectly holy
must judge man because man's sin is an offense against his holy character.
This judgment will eventually send a man to Hell forever.
If man is to
fulfill God's purpose for life, the sin problem must be remedied. The
penalty for sin must be paid. Man cannot provide a remedy on his own for
the sin problem. Only God can provide a remedy.
Plan For New Birth
The plan for the
new birth originated with God in eternity past. It is centered in Jesus
Christ and the ministry of providing his blood and life on the cross.
Without the new birth an individual cannot be part of God's family and
therefore will not be allowed to live in God's house which is commonly
known as Heaven. Our personal salvation is only possible when we
experience the new birth. This experience takes place at a point in time
and is not gradually realized.
Repentance
Because of our
sinfulness repentance is demanded by God, by this at one point in time we
turn from our sin as we present our sinfulness to God seeking his
cleansing through the blood of Jesus Christ.
Along with repentance
at that same point in time we must receive, turn to Jesus Christ by faith
as the only one who can forgive of sin and receive us into the family of
God.
To be saved an
individual must recognize the fact that their sin has separated them from
the God who loved them. They must be willing to turn from their sins though
repentance. They must be willing to place their trust in the fact that
Jesus died for them that he rose from the grave in victory over death.
Then they must invite Jesus to take control of their life as their Lord
and Savior.
Assurance &
Security
Assurance and
security are not the same. The securing of the believer is God's work. It
is a part of God's great work of salvation depending solely upon his
infinite grace. Assurance is the believer's acceptance of the security
provided for him in Christ it is the result of the human soul resting in
what God has promised to accomplished. Just because a Christian lacks
assurance does not alter the fact that he is secure in Jesus.
Eternal Security
Is that teaching
that a man is secure eternally if he has been born again through faith in
Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior [Romans 8:31-39]
Everyday Assurance
A person who has received
Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is eternally secure but may be living in
uncertainty as to his salvation. This should not be. Assurance is to
salvation what works are to faith the one standing alone without the other
is dead. Assurance does not produce salvation anymore than works produce
faith. However, assurance ought to be the result of salvation as works are
the result of faith. Assurance is the result of the human soul resting in
what God has promised to accomplish. [John 5:24; 6:37; 10:28; I John 5:13]
| Your
salvation is dependent upon your having received Christ. |
| Your
Security rest upon Christ's finished work. |
| Your
assurance rest upon God's eternal Work. |
| Your
joy is dependent upon your fellowship with Christ and Christians. |
|
Your
fellowship is dependant upon your walk with Christ. |
